Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emrah Dilaver is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with a clinical focus on orthognathic surgery, facial asymmetry, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) surgery, and advanced maxillofacial procedures.

He graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Dentistry and completed his specialty training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Istanbul Medipol University. His specialty thesis investigated the effects of the V-Y plasty technique on upper lip length following orthognathic surgery.

He was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor in 2022 and currently continues his academic and clinical work at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Faculty of Dentistry, Istinye University.

A major focus of his clinical practice is orthognathic surgery. His approach to dentofacial deformities is based on evaluating jaw function, dental occlusion, facial proportions, and skeletal relationships together rather than considering each component in isolation.

Treatment planning combines clinical examination and facial analysis with CBCT imaging, digital intraoral scans, and three-dimensional virtual surgical planning. Surgical movements are planned individually according to the patient’s anatomy, functional requirements, and facial proportions.

His clinical practice also includes surgical management of facial asymmetry, genioplasty, TMJ surgery, total joint replacement, maxillomandibular advancement for obstructive sleep apnea, and reconstructive maxillofacial surgery.

His academic work focuses particularly on orthognathic surgery, three-dimensional and digital surgical planning, facial asymmetry, AI-assisted facial analysis, TMJ surgery, and maxillofacial imaging.

His research aims to integrate digital technologies with clinical and surgical practice to contribute to the development of more measurable, individualized, and predictable approaches to surgical planning.

His clinical philosophy is based on comprehensive assessment of not only facial appearance, but also jaw function, occlusion, airway, facial balance, and long-term skeletal stability.
