What Is Sleep Apnea Surgery?

Sleep apnea surgery aims to improve airway patency by correcting skeletal factors that contribute to airway obstruction. Maxillomandibular advancement is considered one of the most effective surgical treatments for selected patients with obstructive sleep apnea.

À qui ce traitement s’adresse-t-il ?

Candidates may include patients with:

* Moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea
* CPAP intolerance
* Skeletal jaw deficiency
* Airway narrowing
* Persistent symptoms despite conservative treatment

Planification chirurgicale

Treatment planning includes clinical evaluation, sleep study results (polysomnography), CBCT imaging, airway analysis, and planification chirurgicale virtuelle.

L’intervention

During MMA surgery, both the upper and lower jaws are advanced to increase the volume of the upper airway while maintaining stable occlusion and facial harmony.

Long-Term Airway Improvement

Maxillomandibular advancement has demonstrated long-term improvements in airway dimensions and obstructive sleep apnea severity in appropriately selected patients.

Chirurgie de l’apnée du sommeil

Obstructive sleep apnea occurs when the upper airway repeatedly collapses during sleep. Maxillomandibular advancement (MMA) surgery enlarges the airway by repositioning the upper and lower jaws, improving breathing during sleep in appropriately selected patients.
